COST ACTION 927

Thermally processed foods: possible health implications

International Maillard Reaction Society  (IMARS)

COST 927-IMARS JOINT WORKSHOP (PRELIMINARY PROGRAM)

Workshop aims to promote a balanced approach to understand both the advantageous and deleterious properties of carbonyl compounds and their end products in food science, technology and medicine.

Abstract Submission : An on-line form to submit abstract for oral or poster presentation will be available from the 20th October on the IMARS web site (http://imars.case.edu/index.htm) . Deadline for abstract submission is the 31st December. Late abstract submission may be possible for poster but not for oral presentations

Registration fee : Following the tradition of the COST meetings there will be a low registration fee. A reduced fee will apply to IMARS members, particularly for students presenting their own work. Registration is limited to 150 people.

Travel information : Napoli airport (http://www.gesac.it/it/) has direct connections with the main European hub airports. Alternatively, Napoli can be reached from Rome by train. Rooms in hotels within walking distance of the venue cost 70 - 150 Euro per night.

Napoli in May: Late spring is the best time to visit Napoli and its surroundings. In the city there is the famous “May of Monuments” with the possibility to visit places which are usually closed to the public. Gulf islands (Capri, and Ischia) as well as villages on the coast (Sorrento , Positano and Amalfi) are not too crowded. The temperature is ideal for visiting archeological sites (Pompei and Ercolano) or climbing Vesuvius.
